Diane King See Diane's work at the Linn Grove River Jamboree 2005 and the Northwest Iowa Artisans Road Trip 2005 Being self-taught, my goal is to create an interesting piece of jewelry that exhibits a balanced sense of design – stands the test of time, and is yet unique. In addition, the jewelry must be comfortable to wear, have an appropriate scale and weight For the most part I approach my work intuitively, which often adds an element of surprise. Pieces of metal, glass, faceted or natural stones, colors and textures around me are the forces that inspire my jewelry designs.
I draw inspiration from art and nature, but seldom start with a firm idea of what my final design will be. Works come together on my workbench as elements find each other through proximity, association, and chance.
