Council Meeting was held at the Linn Grove Community Center on February 8, 2007
at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Smith called the
meeting to order. Members present: Ellis, Weier, Nelson, Jurgensen, Hicks.
Members absent: None. In attendance: Roger Warkentin, Jim Wise. Adopt
the Agenda. Moved by Nelson to adopt the agenda. Seconded by Ellis. All
ayes. Motion carried. Approve
Previous Meeting Minutes. Moved by Hicks to approve previous meeting minutes as
read from January 11, 2007. Seconded by Nelson. All ayes. Motion carried.
Old
Business. Fire Department Agreement.
Council further discussed fire department agreement with Warkentin and Wise
regarding agreement for fire protection service effective 7/1/07. Wise will
take proposal made by Council back to Sioux Rapids Protection Agency for their
approval. Law
Enforcement Agreement. Council was informed about contract between BV County
Sheriff’s Dept. regarding timeline of contract being effective 2/1/07 to
6/30/07. A new contract would be in effect from 7/1/07 to 6/30/08, estimated
cost being $3200.00. New
Business. Approve Bills and
Clerk/Treasurer’s Reports. Moved by Weier to approve clerk/treasurer’s reports
and all bills as presented. Seconded by Nelson. All ayes. Motion carried. General

Board Report. None. Library Board Report. None. Maintenance Report. Weier
informed Council that the furnace repairs at the City’s rental building have
been completed. E911 Report-Hicks. Hicks updated Council on the BV County
Communications Center, tower, and proposed budget figures. City
Clerk Report. Budget Discussions. Council looked over the proposed final
figures for Fiscal Year 2007-2008 Budget. Setting Budget Hearing-Resolution
2007-2. Moved by Ellis to approve Resolution 2007-2, a Resolution to approve
setting time and place for a public hearing for the purpose of soliciting
written and oral comments on the City’s proposed fiscal year 2007-2008 budget.
The public hearing will be held at the regular City Council meeting at the Linn
Grove Community Center on March 8, 2007 at 7:10 p.m. Seconded by Weier. A roll
call vote was taken with voting as follows: Weier-Aye, Hicks-Aye, Jurgensen-Aye,
Nelson-Aye, Ellis-Aye. Resolution 2007-2 approved. Correspondence & Misc.
Council was informed on correspondence received from Iowa Telecom regarding
burying cable located at Bluff St. project slated to start May 8, 2007.Announcements-Open
Forum. Council discussed dogs running loose, fencing project located at
Bluff St., installation of light near flagpole area. Moved by
Ellis to adjourn. Seconded by Hicks. Time 8:33 p.m. JOHN
