The Linn Grove Regular City Council Meeting was held
on July 20, 2005 at the Linn Grove Community Center at 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Graesing called the meeting to order.
Members present: Jurgensen, Smith, Wadsley,
Ellis.
Members absent: Weier.
In Attendance: Patria Jenson, Denny Somers.
Mayor & Council’s Comments: None.
Approval of Agenda. Moved by Wadsley to adopt
the agenda. Seconded by Ellis. All ayes. Motion carried.
Consent Agenda. Moved by Ellis to move minutes
from previous meeting out of “Consent Agenda”. Seconded by Wadsley. All ayes.
Motion carried. Moved by Smith to approve “Consent Agenda” being approval of
bills and approval of Clerk/Treasurer’s Financial Reports for June 2005.
Seconded by Wadsley. All ayes. Motion carried. General Garbage Sewer Moved by
Ellis to approve previous meeting minutes as read from June 8, 2005. Seconded
by Jurgensen. All ayes. Motion carried. Old
Business. Abatements. 14 abatements
were sent out to 12 property owners last month, 1 resident has yet to completely
comply. New
Business. High Speed Internet-Denny
Somers. Moved by Ellis to allow Web Wireless to place a radio on the Linn Grove
water tower to provide test wireless internet service in Linn Grove and rural
areas Proof of Insurance must be provided. Council will continue to be updated
with more details regarding this matter. Seconded by Wadsley. All ayes.

Board Report. Council discussed making a temporary plaque for the gazebo
listing all donors to the project. Lawn furniture at the gazebo has been
donated by Larry & Barb Sangl also the clock located on downtown Weaver Street
was donated by Larry & Barb Sangl in memory of Larry’s sister, Caroline Ruth. Library
Board Report. Patria Jenson reported to Council about proceeds from the
Jamboree, library cleared over $400. The names of the 2 library board positions
that need to be filled will by forwarded to the Buena Vista County Board of
Supervisors next meeting for approval.
Maintenance Report. Mayor reported to Council on City equipment and personnel
status. City
Clerk Report. Public Hearing-Building Permit Request. Moved by Smith to
approve building permit request for Larry Sangl for a 24’x28’ 2 car garage
located at 301 Main St. Linn Grove. The cost of the permit is $50. Seconded by
Wadsley. All Ayes. Motion carried. Election Papers. Clerk informed Council
that nomination papers for the upcoming election in November are available.
City Clerk Schooling Report. July 18-22 City Clerk attended Session I classes
in Ames for certification. City Clerk attended small city workshop in Spencer
regarding minutes and nuisances/abatements.
Announcements-Open Forum. Smith voiced concerns about Wetherell Cable TV
service. Council discussed fees assessed by the Linn Grove Community
Enhancement Foundation regarding vendors and youth group for Jamboree 2005.
Council discussed the amount of support to send to Buena Vista County Emergency
Management Services. Moved by
Smith to adjourn. Seconded by Wadsley. Time 9:00 p.m.
