The Linn Grove Regular City Council meeting was held on May 12, 2004 at the Linn Grove Community Center at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Pro Tem Ellis called the meeting to order. Members present: Smith, Weier, Wadsley, Ellis, Jurgensen. Members absent: None. In attendance: Lolita Weier, Krystal Klatt, Patria Jenson, Al & Joni Walquist, Eugene Johnson. Moved by Smith to adopt the agenda. Seconded by Wadsley. Motion carried. Mayor Graesing arrived at 7:10 p.m. Moved by Weier to approve previous meeting minutes as read from April 14, 2004. Seconded by Jurgensen. Motion carried. Open Public Hearing-Ordinance Adopting the City Code of the City of Linn Grove, IA 2004. Mayor Graesing opened public hearing at 7:15 p.m. regarding the 1st reading of Ordinance 701, an Ordinance adopting the City Code of the City of Linn Grove, IA 2004. Upon hearing no objections the hearing closed at 7:23 p.m. Moved by Smith to introduce the following Ordinance 701 on May 12, 2004 an Ordinance adopting the City Code of the City of Linn Grove, IA 2004 and asked that it be placed on file and read for the first time. Seconded by Wadsley. A roll call vote was taken with the voting as follows: Ellis-Aye, Wadsley-Aye, Smith-Aye, Jurgensen-Aye, Weier-Aye. Open Public Hearing-Amending City Budget 2003-2004. Mayor Graesing opened the Linn Grove City Budget Amendment Hearing at 7:25 p.m. Upon hearing no objections the Linn Grove City Budget hearing closed at 7:40 p.m. Moved by Jurgensen to approve Resolution 2004-4, a Resolution approving the Linn Grove City Budget Amendment for fiscal year ending June 30, 2004. Seconded by Weier. A roll call vote was taken with voting as follows: Wadsley-Aye, Jurgensen-Aye, Ellis-Aye, Smith-Aye, Weier-Aye.
Old Business. Abate the Nuisance Update. Moved by Weier to grant Mayor Graesing’s request to extend 30 days to parcel #02-08-176-004, 60 days to parcel #02-08-179-001. Mayor Graesing is to be contact person with these 2 residences. Seconded by Smith. Motion carried. Resident with junk vehicle has complied to abatement sent. Check valve reminder. Notices will be sent as reminders to those who have had letters sent to them earlier this year that check valves need to be installed by June 15th, 2004 or water service will be terminated until such time as installation is completed.
New Business. Encroachment on City Property-Alley. Moved by Wadsley to enter into a written agreement between the City of Linn Grove and Al & Joni Walquist for a flower garden. Seconded by Ellis. Motion carried. Approval of Bills. Moved by Ellis to approve all bills as presented. Seconded by Jurgensen. Motion carried.

Park Board Report. Lolita Weier reported to Council the tentative landscaping plans for the park located up by the school monument. Library Board Report. Summer reading program for the Linn Grove Library will be from June 7-11th. Krystal Klatt informed Council that her term will be expiring June 30, 2004. Patria Jenson briefed Council on various programs proposed for the Library. Maintenance Report. Mower repairs are done and the generator is now in working order. Chemicals for the lagoons have been purchased to help control the duckweed. City Clerk Report. Eugene Johnson Sidewalk. Tabled to a later date. Street Address Numbers. As a reminder you must have your street address numbers on the front of your home. This will help with 911 emergency calls. Correspondence. Letters received throughout the month were read to Council. Announcements-Open Forum. Wadsley requested Mayor Graesing to have Chad Anderson weed eat the hill coming down Weaver Street. Wadsley informed Council that he had a buyer for the sickle bar mower for $150 this money will be used to buy a weed eater for the City.
Moved by Wadsley to adjourn. Seconded by Smith. Time 9:00 p.m.
