The Linn Grove Regular City council meeting was held on April 13, 2005 at the Linn Grove Community Center at 7:00 p.m.

 

Mayor Graesing called the meeting to order.

Members present: Wadsley, Smith, Ellis, Weier, Jurgensen.

Members absent: None.

In attendance: Steve and Lora Johnson.

Moved by Ellis to adopt the agenda.  Seconded by Jurgensen.  Motion carried.

Moved by Smith to approve previous meeting minutes as read from March 9, 2005.  Seconded by Wadsley.  Motion carried.

 

Old Business.

Business Property.  Moved by Ellis to approve Resolution 2005-4, a Resolution approving renting building located at 100 Weaver Street to Steve and Lora Johnson at $40/month beginning May 1st 2005.  Mayor Graesing and the Johnson’s will work on a rental agreement to present to the Council for final approval.  Seconded by Jurgensen.  A roll call vote was taken with the voting as follows: Wadsley-Aye, Smith-Aye, Ellis-Aye, Weier-Aye, Jurgensen-Aye.

Mower Bid.  Moved by Wadsley to authorize Mayor Graesing to purchase 1420 John Deere Commercial Front Mount mower from the lowest bidder for the City of Linn Grove and selling mower that the City now has.  Seconded by Weier.  Motion carried.

 

New Business.

Approval of Bills.  Moved by Smith to approve all bills as presented.  Seconded by Ellis.  Motion carried.

Park Board Report.  Gazebo should be delivered at the end of the month.

Library Board Report.  None.

Maintenance Report.  Council was informed that 2 fire hydrants will be installed in the near future.  Council discussed what streets to be sealcoated this year.  Mayor Graesing will contact First Co-op regarding treating part of East High Street for dust control. 

City Clerk Report.  Set Public Hearing Amending 2004-2005 Budget.  Moved by Smith to set public hearing notice regarding amending the budget for fiscal year 2004-2005 for Wednesday May 11, 2005 at 7:15 p.m. at the Linn Grove Community Center.  Seconded by Wadsley.  Motion carried.  Clean-up Day.  Linn Grove will have clean-up day on Saturday May 21st, 2005.  Public Hearing-Building Permit Request.  Mayor Graesing opened public hearing at 8:15 p.m.  After hearing no objections and after Council discussion Mayor Graesing closed the public hearing at 8:20 p.m.  Moved by Jurgensen to approve building permit request for Allan & Joni Walquist for a 24’x48’ building located at Parcel #02-08-104-018.  The cost of the permit is $50.  Seconded by Smith.  Motion carried.  Abate the Nuisance.  City Council discussed various nuisances within the city limits of Linn Grove with many areas in non-compliance of City Code pertaining to junk vehicles, debris, and overgrowth.  Moved by Smith to table any abatements until after May 21st Clean-up Day giving property owners a chance to get up to code and encouraging residents to do so.  Seconded by Jurgensen.  Motion carried.  Clerk informed Council of an upcoming class that she would be attending regarding the Street Finance Report. 

 

Announcements-Open Forum.

Wadsley discussed upcoming Jamboree with Council regarding use of property located north of 100 Weaver, peddlers fee, raffle, spraying for mosquitoes, & beer license.  A more detailed list to follow next month.  Mayor Graesing informed Council of the meeting he had with the Linn Grove Fire Department.  The Linn Grove Fire Department voted to sell/trade the fire truck and replace it with a mini pumper.  Moved by Wadsley to have Mayor Graesing seek legal advice regarding the question of liability on the City of failure to publish or post notification of registered sexual offenders dwelling within City limits.  Seconded by Weier.  Motion carried. 

 

Moved by Smith to adjourn.  Seconded by Jurgensen.  Time 9:17 p.m.
