January 2005 Minutes The Linn Grove Regular City
Council meeting was held on December 8, 2004 at the Linn Grove Community Center
at 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Pro Tem Ellis called the meeting to order.
Members present: Weier, Smith, Wadsley,
Jurgensen, Ellis
.Members absent: Graesing
.In attendance: None.
Moved by Smith to adopt the agenda. Seconded by
Wadsley. Motion carried
Moved by Smith to approve previous meeting
minutes as read from November 10, 2004. Seconded by Wadsley. Motion carried. Old
Business Property
Agreement. Moved by Jurgensen to table this issue regarding property located at
100 Weaver St. Linn Grove until the January council meeting. Seconded by
Weier. Motion carried. New
Business. Approval
of Bills. Moved by Jurgensen to approve all bills as presented. Seconded by
Weier. Motion carried. General Garbage Sewer

Board Report. None. Park
Board Report. None.
Maintenance Report. Moving Building Permit Request. Moved by Smith to approve
the request from Monte Fassler 220 Sherman Avenue for a moving building permit
for a 12’ x 8’ building, the cost for the permit is $15. Seconded by
Jurgensen. Motion carried. Snow Removal Operator Approval. Moved by Weier to
approve Mayor Graesing’s hiring Paul Huffey for snow removal of back hill
located on Linn Street and portions of the downtown Weaver Street area at $8.00
per hour. Seconded by Wadsley. Motion carried. Moved by Smith to grant
request for a 6’x8’ lean-to shed located at 204 West High St. Linn Grove no
building permit required. Seconded by Wadsley. Motion carried. Weier
abstaining. City
Clerk Report. Council was informed of the possibility of the Peterson Patriot,
the official newspaper for publishing, might be closing its doors the end of
December. Moved by Smith to designate the Sioux Rapids Bulletin Press/Daily
Reporter as the Linn Grove official newspaper for publishing if the Peterson
Patriot does close. Seconded by Wadsley. Motion carried. Moved by Jurgensen
to approve Mayor Graesing’s hiring Sarah Fassler for cleaning the community
center at $30 a month. Seconded by Wadsley. Motion carried. Council
instructed City Clerk to send a courtesy abatement letter to resident living at
408 Church St. Linn Grove, IA regarding unlicensed junk vehicle.
