The Linn Grove Regular City Council meeting was held
on March 9, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Linn Grove Community Center.
Mayor Pro Tem called the meeting to order.
Members present: Ellis, Wadsley, Smith,
Jurgensen.
Members absent: Weier.
In attendance: Jeff Kestel.
Moved by Smith to adopt the agenda. Seconded by
Wadsley. Motion carried.
Moved by Jurgensen to approve previous meeting
minutes as read from February 9, 2005. Seconded by Wadsley. Motion carried.
Mayor Pro Tem opened the Linn Grove City Budget
Hearing at 7:10 p.m
Mayor Graesing arrived at 7:12 p.m.
Upon hearing no objections the Linn Grove City
Budget Hearing closed at 7:20 p.m. Moved by Ellis to approve Resolution 2005-1,
a Resolution approving the Linn Grove City Budget for fiscal year ending June
30, 2006. Seconded by Jurgensen. A roll call vote was taken with the voting as
follows: Ellis-Aye, Jurgensen-Aye, Wadsley-Aye, Smith-Aye.
Old Business.
Abate the Nuisance Update. Vehicle was towed at owners expense for resident
residing at Parcel #02-08-154-007. Council members were assigned to certain
areas of Linn Grove to inspect for necessary abatements to be issued at the
April council meeting. Moved by Ellis to send a “Letter of Reminder” for needed
tree trimming for residents residing at Parcel #02-08-178-001. Seconded by
Wadsley. Motion carried.
New Business.
Watchable Wildlife-Jeff Kestel. Jeff Kestel, a representative for RC&D
(Resource, Conservation, & Development) spoke to Council about the Watchable
Wildlife Foundation.
Approval of Bills. Moved by Ellis to approve as
bills as presented. Seconded by Jurgensen. Motion carried. General Garbage Sewer
Park Board Report. Council was informed that
Ace hardware has ordered the gazebo. Council discussed installation of railing
by the school monument when weather permits.
Library Board Report. None.
Maintenance Report. Mower. Council discussed
mower bid received. Mayor Graesing informed Council he would get a couple of
more bids.
City Clerk Report. Arny Grow Garbage Hauling
Service Contract-Resolution 2005-2. Moved by Wadsley to approve Resolution
2005-2, a Resolution to enter into a contract with Arny Grow Garbage Hauling
Service effective April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2006, authorizing Mayor to sign
contract and authorizing Mayor and Utility Manager to collectively deal with any
problems that may arise during the term of this contract. A binding contract
between the City of Linn Grove and Arny Grow Garbage Hauling Service. Grow’s
Garbage Hauling Service agrees to pickup garbage at all residences in Linn Grove
with the following exceptions: residents residing at 110 Linn St. & 211 Railroad
St. Linn Grove, Iowa. These exceptions have been given designated pickup
locations because of logistical problems. Monthly fee assessed to the City of
Linn Grove will be $800. Grow’s Garbage Hauling Service must provide Proof of
Insurance on an annual basis to City of Linn Grove. Seconded by Smith. A roll
call vote was taken with voting as follows: Wadsley-Aye, Ellis-Aye,
Jurgensen-Aye, Smith-Aye. Liquor License Approval. Moved by Wadsley to approve
the liquor license renewal also outdoor service & Sunday sales privilege for
Bobby’s Sand Bar. Seconded by Jurgensen. Motion carried. Smith voiced his
concerns regarding Sunday Sales Privilege. Reimbursement Rate-Resolution
2005-3. Moved by Ellis to approve Resolution 2005-3, a Resolution changing the
reimbursement rate for city officials and employees using their own vehicles to
$0.405/mile matching the amount allowable under IRS rules. Seconded by
Jurgensen. A roll call vote was taken with voting as follows: Jurgensen-Aye,
Smith-aye, Wadsley-Aye, Ellis-Aye.
Announcements-Open Forum.
Mayor Graesing informed Council of correspondence received from Buena Vista
County regarding the Bluff Street Bridge Project. Moved by Jurgensen to send a
“Letter of Support” to the Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors regarding the
changed County bike trail route. Seconded by Ellis. Motion carried. Wadsley
updated the Council on the upcoming Jamboree. Moved by
Ellis to adjourn. Seconded by Wadsley. Time 9:00 p.m. |
