The Linn Grove Regular City Council meeting was held at the Linn Grove Community Center on May 11, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Smith called the meeting to order.

Members present: Hicks, Jurgensen, Weier, Nelson.

Members absent: Ellis.

In attendance: None.

Adopt the Agenda  Moved by Nelson to adopt the agenda.  Seconded by Weier.  All ayes.  Motion carried. 

Approve Previous Meeting Minutes.  Moved by Jurgensen to approve previous meeting minutes as read from April 10, 2006.  Seconded by Hicks.  All ayes.  Motion carried.

Old Business.  None.

New Business.

Ellis arrived at 7:10 p.m.

Open Public Hearing-Amending Current Budget.  Mayor Smith opened the Linn Grove Amended City Budget Hearing at 7:10 p.m.  Upon hearing no objections the Linn Grove Amended City Budget Hearing for fiscal year 2005-2006 closed at 7:20 p.m.  Moved by Hicks to reopen the regular city council meeting.  Seconded by Nelson.  All ayes.  Motion carried.  Moved by Hicks to approve Resolution 2006-11, a Resolution approving the Linn Grove Amended City Budget for fiscal year 2005-2006.  Seconded by Nelson.  A roll call vote was taken with voting as follows: Nelson-Aye, Hicks-Aye, Weier-Aye, Jurgensen-Aye, Ellis-Aye.  Motion carried.

Approval of Bills & Clerk/Treasurer’s Reports.  Moved by Ellis to approve clerk/treasurer’s reports and all bills as presented.  Seconded by Jurgensen.  All ayes.  Motion carried.

Park Board Report.  None.

Library Board Report.  None.

Maintenance Report.  Electric Pump Contract.  Moved by Ellis to approve Resolution 2006-12, a Resolution approving the contract between the City of Linn Grove and Electric Pump, and authorizing the Mayor or City Clerk to act as a duly authorized representative to sign contract.  Seconded by Weier.  A roll call vote was taken with voting as follows: Ellis-Aye, Jurgensen-Aye, Nelson-Aye, Hicks-Aye, Weier-Aye.  Motion carried.  Pump House & Water Repairs.  Moved by Nelson to approve putting a steel roof on the pump house estimated costs for supplies $200.  Seconded by Jurgensen.  All ayes.  Motion carried.  Council discussed that when there is a water leak that from the water main in that it is the property owner’s responsibility to pay for the repairs.  Hiring for 2006 Mowing Season.  Moved by Jurgensen to approve Mayor Smith hiring Monte Fassler for 2006 mowing season at $8.50/hr.  Seconded by Weier.  All ayes.  Motion carried.  Consumer Confidence Report.  The 2006 Consumer Confidence Report is posted at the Linn Grove Post Office, Community Center/Library, and First State Bank.  Notice will also be printed on June utility billings letting the public know the report is available upon request at the City Clerk’s office. 

City Clerk Report.  Raising Rent of Community Center.  Moved by Nelson to increase rent on the community center $5.00.  The new fee to rent the community center will be $30.00 effective immediately.  Seconded by Weier.  All ayes.  Motion carried.  Abatements.  Mayor and council members will be making a courtesy call to residents, giving them 5 days after annual clean-up day (May 20, 2006) before an official abatement letter will be sent out.  NIMS.  Moved by Ellis to approve Resolution 2006-13, a Resolution approving the NIMS concept of emergency planning and unified command for use in the City of Linn Grove as its system of preparing for and responding to emergencies.  Seconded by Weier.  A roll call vote was taken with voting as follows: Jurgensen-Aye, Ellis-Aye, Nelson-Aye, Hicks-Aye, Weier-Aye.  Motion carried.  City Lot.  Council discussed the possibility of selling a city owned lot.  Correspondence/Misc.  None.

Announcements-Open Forum.  None.

Moved by Ellis to adjourn.  Seconded by Nelson.  Time 8:30 p.m.
