Linn Grove Regular City Council Meeting September 10, 2003 at the Linn Grove Community Center at 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Graesing called the meeting to order. Members present: Smith, Jurgensen, Ellis, Wadsley. Members absent: Warkentin. In attendance: Patria Jenson, Lolita Weier. Moved by Smith to adopt the agenda. Seconded by Wadsley. Motion carried. Moved by Ellis to approve previous meeting minutes as read from August 13, 2003. Seconded by Jurgensen. Motion carried. Old Business. Clean-up Property Parcel #02-08-104-015. Wetherell Sand & Gravel has been contacted and the property clean-up will proceed as scheduled. Sewer has been capped. Wetherell Bid-$2800. Council further discussed if they should proceed to accept the bid from Wetherell Sand & Gravel for clean-up of property described as Lot Nine (9) Ward’s Addition Linn Grove, Iowa. Council agreed to have Mayor Graesing see if bid could be negotiated down. Further decisions will be made at the next regular city council meeting. New Business. Approval of Bills. Park Board Report. Clerk read report from Larry Sangl regarding the landscaping he has done at the school memorial park. Mayor and Council discussed the installation of 2 steps located near the school monument site. Library Board Report. Patria Jenson reported to council that the 2 new computers are here and the librarians have received training. Maintenance Report. Mayor Graesing reported the maintenance shed cost was $400 and cement pad was poured for $700. Correspondence Sent to BV County Board of Supervisors. Clerk read letter to be delivered to the BV County Board of Supervisors asking Board to forgive last 2 payments due to the fact Linn Grove will be losing the RUT funds which will be going to BV County instead. Moved by Smith to approve raise for Chad Anderson to $9.00 an hour for mowing. Seconded by Ellis. Motion carried. City Clerk Report. Building Permit Request. Moved by Wadsley to approve building permit request from Larry Sangl. A $50 building permit fee is required. Seconded by Jurgensen. Motion carried. Property Tax Bill. Clerk informed Council that Monte & Kathy Scholten have paid the 1st and 2nd half property taxes as agreed upon in lease agreement for property located at 100 Weaver Street Linn Grove, Iowa. Annual Financial Report. Clerk handed out the annual financial report to Council. Report has been completed and has been sent to Peterson Patriot for publication. Nomination Papers. Clerk informed the Council of the deadline September 18, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. for turning in nomination papers. Mayor and all 5 Council seats are up for re-election in November. Voter Iowa Registration applications are available at First State Bank. Clerk informed Council that “Thank You's” were sent to Randy & Linda Johnson, John Nelson, First State Bank, & Retha Harrington for their donations towards mill/waterwheel project. Announcements-Open Forum. The pond kit and components have been ordered for mill/waterwheel project. All electrical supplies have been purchased. Moved by Wadsley to adjourn. Seconded by Ellis.
