“Native surroundings and animals inspire me.”

When I was a kid, I used to escape daily chores to play along the old creek bed, where I

would fashion vessels and animals from Blue Glacial Clay found near my home south of Estherville.

Sometimes, after spring rains, I still walk the creeks watching the eroded banks for a vein of this unique dark blue clay.

The River View Ranch just outside of Linn Grove has been my home for 44 years. The land and waterways

are a source of beauty and sustain wildlife, livestock and our way of life.

I never tire of the view and listening to the river sounds and songbirds.

I watch the eagles fly along the river looking for fish.

There is beauty in all that nature offers and I apply it to my work.

The pliable and elastic nature of clay allows me the freedom

to create a variety of textures, shapes and colors.

I sculpt animal figures and make one-of-a-kind

ceramic pendants and necklaces.

My necklaces are strung with a combination of handmade beads, along with turquoise, hematite, azurite stone and silver beads. Each year I travel to a gem show and buy interesting and novel stones to add to my designs.

I paint what I see and enjoy.
